you are so welcome! I did not do treadmill running because at the time I didn't belong to a gym. I don't really like treadmill running either to be honest. I don't know if there are benefits or disadvantages but I do know that street running is probably safer than the treadmill for heavier runners (well, "know", this is what I've heard/read). it's pretty cold outside but if you layer up you should still be able to do it. Do you have a park near you?

Thanks by the way for the C25K advice.. another question - did you ever do any of your running on the treadmill as opposed to street running? Should you and can you? Does it make a difference to the results?

thank you so much Fallon!

I don't have a next race yet! and we do have some hills, just not as much as Nijmegen. But if you compared Arnhem to Amsterdam, well, we've definitely got hills! I am going to look at a few routes I can do maybe with the Hubs to get us doing a bit more hill training.

Really??? I have inspired you to start running? Yay!! So I did the Couch to 5K from Cool Running and eventually I used podcasts that told me when to walk/run. And when I started I weighed 99KG. So, I don't know where you are now, but just know that I wasn't exactly just a wee bit overweight. The great thing is, you can totally take your time and repeat weeks if you don't feel confident. I have to say though there are plenty of bloggers out there who have done C25K who were heavier than me. Julia is one that comes to mind.

thanks very much! I need to sign up for another race to keep me having something to work towards.

haha well the hill pictured is NOT the first hill. Really. the first one was a piece of pie!
I love running over bridges - maybe you should come to Arnhem we can run over a few here. At least we have a couple you can do in a sort of loop that would be like 7KM or so.
thanks very much, I'm really proud of myself (and hubs too!) :)
